The short version
A map is the beginning, not the memory.
A location history diary records the physical part of a day. It can show the route you took, the places where you stayed and the trips that grew out of those days. It cannot know what the day felt like by looking at coordinates.
Journary keeps those two things separate. It records movement on your iPhone, organizes the record into maps and trips, and gives you space to write what the phone could never infer.
What it can record

Journary works from location evidence and the context you choose to add. The record can become more useful over time because you can correct a place, remove a day or search the history instead of relying on a half-remembered photo roll.
If you opt in to Apple Health, Journary can add movement measures such as steps and floors climbed. Those reads are handled through HealthKit on the device. They are extra context, not a verdict about how a day went.

What it cannot know
Coordinates do not explain a life.
A location history can show that you spent an afternoon near a cafe. It cannot know that you met an old friend there, changed your mind about something or had a terrible day. It cannot reliably infer who was with you or what you meant to remember.
That is why Journary keeps correction and writing in the same place as the route. Let the phone keep the facts. Add the part only you can supply.

Private by design
Keep the history out of a location profile.
Journary has no location server of its own. Your history is stored on the iPhone and syncs through your private iCloud. The app is designed to show your history without sending a copy of where you go to Journary.
You can correct a place, delete data and export the record. Privacy is not a promise to never touch the data. It is a product boundary you can inspect and use.

What does a location history diary record?
It can record location points, routes, places and trips, then show them by day or date range. Journary also keeps optional photos, Health movement data and your own writing with the record.
Can a location history diary know how I felt?
No. A route can provide context, but it cannot know what a place meant to you. Journary leaves space for your own note instead of presenting an inference as a memory.
Does Journary keep the location history on a server?
No Journary server receives your location history. The app stores it on your iPhone and syncs through your private iCloud. The full product boundary is described on the privacy page.
