Data handling

How your data flows

Journary is an iPhone journal. Here is the short version of where your information goes. The Privacy Policy has the full legal detail.

On your iPhone

With location permission, Journary records location points and uses them to build routes, places, trips and daily views. The canonical journal stays on your iPhone. There is no Journary account or location-history server.

Optional Apple Health reads use device services for steps, floors climbed, walking and running distance, and workouts or routes. Journary does not send your journal or Health record to its server.

Backup and restore

A normal encrypted device or iCloud backup can include your journal. Journary does not provide live CloudKit sync. Backup inclusion does not guarantee recovery, so check your Apple backup settings before changing phones.

What can leave the device

A user-initiated feedback message can go to Journary. The in-app feedback feature is not available before launch. The Privacy Policy describes the current feedback and diagnostics flow.

Product records describe export controls for history you can access. Route image and video exports are planned for V1, with release-build confirmation still open.

The website waitlist and analytics have a separate data flow from the iPhone journal. Read the Privacy Policy for the website's current details.

Deletion

The app has controls to correct places, remove entries and delete your local history. A device or iCloud backup may still contain an earlier copy. For help with deletion, email support@journary.app.
