If you fly often
Flighty is the sharper flight tool.
Flighty has a focused job and a deep set of flight-specific tools. Its official pages call out delay predictions, inbound aircraft tracking, airport information, Live Activities, Flighty Friends, flight imports and Passport history.
Journary does not replace those tools. It does not claim to know the gate, predict a delay or tell you where your aircraft is. Use Flighty when the flight itself is the thing you need to manage.

Journary covers the rest of the day.
A flight number is only one line in a trip. Journary can keep the taxi to the airport, the walk after landing, the hotel, the cafe and the ordinary days that never had a booking reference.
It also keeps the record private by design. Journary has no location server of its own. Your history stays on the iPhone and syncs through your private iCloud, with corrections, deletion and exports available to you.

A reasonable answer
You may want both.
Flighty can tell you that your incoming plane is late. Journary can remember the day you spent waiting, the walk you took after landing and the place you returned to the next morning. One is operational. The other is personal.
The apps can coexist because they do not need to own the same record. Keep Flighty for the live flight question. Keep Journary for the location history you want to read again.
Privacy and price
Read the boundaries before you choose.
Flighty publishes a privacy policy that describes anonymous analytics and service-side handling for features such as airport location, calendar matching and Flighty Friends. Flighty also says it does not sell personal information and does not use Facebook or Google tracking SDKs. That is the fair reading of its own documents.
Journary takes a different route for the location journal. No Journary server receives your history. The free tier keeps maps, trips, photos, search, corrections, exports, posters and your own notes free. Only Journary-generated prose older than 12 months needs the planned $69.99 lifetime Pro purchase.

Is Journary a Flighty alternative?
It is an alternative for a different job. Flighty is focused on live flight information and flight history. Journary is focused on the broader record of where you went, including routes, places, trips and daily writing.
Does Journary show flight delays or gates?
No. Journary does not promise flight operations data, delay predictions, gate alerts or Live Activities. Use Flighty or your airline app for those questions.
Can I use Journary and Flighty together?
Yes. Flighty can handle the live flight while Journary keeps the wider location history around the trip. They answer different questions and do not need to replace each other.
Does Journary have a subscription like Flighty?
No. Journary Pro is planned as one $69.99 lifetime purchase. There is no subscription, trial or renewal. Journary is still in development and is not available on the App Store yet.
