A private diary written by your iPhone

Remember your life.

Journary turns the places you go into a private map and a diary you can read back. It records on your iPhone. You never start it, check it or fill it in.

One email when the app is ready. Nothing else.

Why it exists

You write almost none of your life down. A few photographs, a few messages, and the rest goes. The walk home. The café you found by accident. The week you spent somewhere else. Those days are not the spare ones. They are most of your life.

Journary keeps them without you asking, and hands them back when you want to look.

One day becoming a memory

Nothing happens on purpose here.

You carry your phone. Later, the day is already a route, a set of places and a page written in plain sentences. Follow one day through, from the first street to the years it ends up in.

01 · Movement

A line, drawn while you walked it.

Your phone already knows it moved. Journary keeps the shape of that movement: walked, driven, and the long gap where you sat still. It marks the places you stayed long enough for them to count.

02 · The day

Then it is a page you can read.

Distance, hours outdoors, where you were and when you arrived, written as sentences rather than a chart. Journary says what it is sure of and marks what it is guessing. You correct the rest, or leave it out.

03 · Chapters

Days that belong together find each other.

A weekend, a month away, a spell of living somewhere else. Journary groups those days into one chapter while it is still happening. There is no trip to start and no folder to make.

04 · The record

And one day it is years.

Each day joins the ones before it. Zoom far enough out and it stops looking like a map of where you are. It looks like a record of where you have been.

The long view

Ordinary days add up faster than you notice.

A street you lived on for a while. A city you passed through once and could not place again. The countries you can name, and the two you always have to check. Held together, the days answer questions you never thought to ask them.

Private by default

A diary belongs to one person.

Journary has no account and no location server. It reads and writes your history on your iPhone, and syncs it across your own devices through your private iCloud. Nobody is on the other side of it, because there is no other side.

Correct it or remove it
Change a place, drop a day, or delete the whole history.
Take it with you
Export the diary in standard formats. We never charge you to get your own record out.

Good to know

Do I have to start and stop recording?

No. Journary records in the background. There is no trip to start, no check-in and no streak to keep alive.

Does Journary upload my location?

No Journary server receives your location history. Journary processes it on your iPhone and syncs it across your own devices through your private iCloud.

Can I correct a place or a day?

Yes. Correct a place, change a detail, or remove something you do not want in your diary.

Does it work without a signal?

Yes. Recording and writing happen on your iPhone, so Journary keeps the record offline and abroad.

When can I download Journary?

Journary is still in development and is not in the App Store yet. Join the waitlist and we will email you when it is ready.
